North Base – Polarity EP [Viper VIP]

Hailing from Manchester, North Base is a UK-trio making waves in the Drum & Bass scene and beyond. With their debut EP on Viper VIP, North Base drops a diverse selection of tracks and BPM’s showcasing their style from the opening rolling title track ‘Polarity’, to the rough and rugged sounds of ‘What R U Doing?” featuring the legendary Ragga Twins.

Having appeared on many quality releases and compilation tracks across labels such as Viper, Hospital, Technique, V Records, New State, and more, North Base have DJ’d at massive events around the world including: Glastonbury, Global Gathering, Creamfields, WMC Miami, Boomtown, Snowbombing, and the world famous Fabric in London.

After appearing on Viper’s own highly respected ‘Summer Slammers’ compilation last year with ‘Beats So Loud’ featuring Jenna G, North Base (AKA, Silver, Splice, and Prophecy) return to the camp for their debut EP with the label.

The EP’s title track collaboration ‘Polarity’ with fellow Viper Recordings artists, Cynematic, and featuring the powerful and captivating vocal of Mitch Dowd, is pure rolling, big room largeness! This one will be echoing through the clubs and on the airwaves all winter.

Next up, North Base have another huge collaboration, this time with Spanish producer ISVK and the legendary Ragga Twins. The result is ‘What R U Doing?’ which walks a balanced line between big sound system vibes & dirty south Trap.

Viper’s own Trei then steps up and gives ‘What R U Doing?’ a Drum & Bass rework in his own unique, rough & rugged style. The EP then takes a more liquid & soulful turn with ‘The Call’ before the instrumental version of ‘Polarity’ brings the EP to an end.

All in all, this is an extremely impressive debut EP from North Base and shows just how diverse the outfits production is and why they are in such high demand.
